Columbia Summer Session offers students the unique opportunity to foster academic, cultural, and career experiences as they advance their studies in the classroom. Through co-curricular learning, students can experience the vibrancy of campus life, amid the energy of New York City.

It offers curated educational, social, and cultural experiences to connect students with each other and Columbia faculty as well as opportunities to explore New York landmarks and institutions, from the Metropolitan Museum of Art to Broadway.

Sounds of Summer Fest

The Sounds of Summer Fest features up-and-coming New York City artists curated across genres over two days in June and August. On June 24, the series kicks off with CILLA, Bandits on the Run, MICHELLE, and Duendita. The festival returns on August 9 with CILLA, 79.5, Juice, and Pom Pom Squad.

Broadway Shows

Students are invited to attend Broadway shows throughout the summer. Join us for the musical production of Tim Burton's beloved film Beetlejuice on July 14.

Career Skills and Exploration

Unique to the Columbia Summer Session is the Summer Career Design Workshop. Students receive robust and practical career coaching, from interview and resume writing, to advice on building your own personal brand, including social media guidance and time with a professional photographer for a polished LinkedIn headshot.

Experiential Learning

Enhanced experiential events allow students to interact with Columbia faculty and explore New York landmarks and institutions—from Ellis Island  to Broadway, and from museums to medicine—through an academic perspective. Guided by university scholars, students can tour cultural landmarks and explore the University’s state-of-the-art science research facilities.
