Columbia College and School of Engineering Undergraduate Students

Billing for Academic Year 2020-2021 Third Term (Summer 2021)

Columbia College and School of Engineering Undergraduate Students enrolled full-time in fall 2020 and spring 2021 can also enroll in summer 2021 courses at no additional tuition cost (except for any supplementary course or term fees), for a maximum of 40 credits for the academic year. If a student enrolls in more than 40 credits for the 2020-2021 academic year, tuition will be charged for summer 2021 credits on a per-credit basis for any point above 40.

Example: Student A completes 13 credits in fall + 16 credits in spring for a total of 29 credits in fall and spring, then Student A is eligible for 11 additional credits through summer 2021 coursework, “tuition-free” except for supplementary course or term fees, up to 40 total credits.

Payment Dates & Procedures


Columbia University bills students for tuition and fees according to the schedule below. When a statement is generated, an email notification is sent directly to your Columbia email account. You can also access a copy of the bill through Student Services Online (SSOL)The University does not mail paper bills.

After the first statement is generated in June, bills will be generated periodically if you make schedule changes or if you carry an account balance.

* The application fee for the Certifications in UN Studies, Critical Issues for International Relations, and Human Rights is $80.

** The Student Activities fee is $50 for Columbia University degree students as well as SPGRAD, SPGFND, and SPCDEDC. The fee is $325 for all other Visiting Students.

*** University Services and Support Fee — Students are required to pay a University Facilities Fee depending on their registration. Full-time students are those registered for 12 or more credits in the term. For Summer 2020, the fee was reduced to reflect unique campus operations. This was a lower amount than planned to reflect the reduced availability of certain services and support, including athletics facilities and Lerner Hall. This fee is subject to Board of Trustee approval and may change.

**** Health Service Fee — Required for the following students: 1. International Students (non-U.S. Citizen or Non-U.S. Permanent Residents) that are attending courses for 8 weeks or longer; 2. Students that are registered for 12 credits or more. Optional for all other students. Visit Columbia Health for details.

 ****International Services Fee — This fee is mandatory for all international students. 

Health Service Fee

Students who were enrolled in the Health Service Program during the spring term are automatically covered through the last day of summer sessions. All other students may elect to pay the Health Services Fee for summer coverage. For more information about the Health Service Program, please visit
