If you’re interested in taking only courses offered by the School of the Arts this summer we have a simple application process that will allow you to take courses in Film, Writing, Visual Arts, or Theatre. Whether you’re a beginning artist or an experienced practitioner, you can be part of Arts in the Summer with the School of the Arts. Please note that high school students are not eligible for this application process.
Choose courses from four subject areas offered by the School of the Arts. The courses on these pages reflect Summer 2017 offerings. Courses for Summer 2018 will be posted in mid-December:
Drama & Theatre
Developed by the Oscar Hammerstein II Center for Theatre Studies.
Includes courses in history, production, and writing.
Offered by the Undergraduate Creative Writing Program at Columbia. Includes workshops and craft seminars in fiction, nonfiction, and poetry.
Includes courses in photography, painting, and printmaking

The Arts in the Summer courses application is for students that only want to take the courses included in the subject areas listed on this page. If you’re looking to take arts courses along with courses in other subjects, you need to follow the application process for our Visiting or Adults & Professionals student categories.

Students whose native language is not English
Applicants whose native language is not English are expected to meet or exceed the program minimum language requirements. Submission of test scores is not required as part of the application process.
