Payment Dates & Procedures

Billing

Columbia University bills students for tuition and fees according to the schedule below. When a statement is generated, an email notification is sent directly to your Columbia email account. You can also access a copy of the bill through Student Services Online (SSOL)The University does not mail paper bills.

After the first statement is generated in June, bills will be generated periodically if you make schedule changes or if you carry an account balance.

* The application fee for the Certifications in UN Studies, Critical Issues for International Relations, and Human Rights is $80.

** University Facilities Fee — Students are required to pay a University Facilities Fee depending on their registration. Full-time students are those registered for 12 or more points in the term. This fee is not assessed to undergraduate students who are charged the Student Life Fee, Graduate School of Arts and Sciences students who are registered for Matriculation and Facilities, American Language Program students, School of Professional Studies Summer Program for High School Students, or students in a course of study away from the University, where applicable. The fee applies to individuals enrolled in a Master's program at the School of Professional Studies, the Graduate School of Arts & Sciences, or The Fu Foundation School of Engineering & Applied Science. This fee is subject to Board of Trustee approval and may change. For the Summer 2020 term only, the fee is waived for part-time students.

*** International Services Fee — This fee is mandatory for all international students. Due to the online-only course offering in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the fee is waived for the Summer 2020 term.

**** Health Service Fee — Required for the following students: 1. International Students (non-U.S. Citizen or Non-U.S. Permanent Residents) that are attending courses for 8 weeks or longer; 2. Students that are registered for 12 points or more. Optional for all other students. Due to the online-only course offering in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the fee is mandatory only for those who elect to enroll in the Columbia Student Health Insurance Plan for the Summer 2020 term. Student Medical Insurance

Students in the following categories are required to enroll in the Columbia Student Health Insurance Plan unless they obtain a waiver:

  1. International Students (non-U.S. Citizen or Non-Permanent Residents) that are attending courses for 8 weeks or longer;
  2. Students that are registered for 12 points or more.
