Arts in the Summer

Eligibility

Arts in the Summer is open to individuals who will be 18 years or older by the start of the program and who are not currently enrolled in high school. An undergraduate degree is not required. However, applicants will be asked to submit their academic history in the application. If admitted, Arts in the Summer students may only enroll in the courses specifically designated in this program.

English Language Proficiency

Applicants whose native language is not English are expected to meet or exceed the program's minimum language requirements. Submission of test scores is not required as part of the application process. Please review the expected language levels below.

Application Process

  • Step 1. Identify your courses of interest.
  • Step 2. Create your account and submit your application.
  • Step 3. Receive your admissions decision, confirm intent to enroll in your application portal, and apply for housing (if applicable).
  • Step 4. Submit your immunization documentation. International students must also submit an application or transfer application for an I-20 to Columbia ISSO. 
  • Step 5. Meet with your advisor and register for class(es).

Within the online application, for Type of Program you should select "Visiting Student Programs" and "Arts in the Summer" as your Program of Study.

 

Checking Application Status

Please allow sufficient time after submitting your application before contacting the Office of Admissions about your application status. We encourage you to check your application status in the online application portal as often as you like. You will be notified via email when a decision letter is ready to be viewed in your application portal.

After submitting your completed application, you will receive an email notifying you that the decision is ready to be viewed within the application system. Once your application materials are complete, you should expect to receive a decision notification in 2 to 3 weeks.

Application Materials

Please select “Non-Degree & Other Certificate Programs” within the application system to access the application and select “Arts in the Summer” as your program. You will be asked to identify which session you plan to attend and if you plan to enroll in the Focus in Arts and Culture in NYC.

Nonrefundable application fee 

The application fee is $80 (U.S. currency). Application fee payment must be made by credit card through the online application.
