Certifications of Professional Achievement
Certifications of Professional Achievement are the ideal entry point to pursuing a subject of interest for career development or advancement in International Relations, Human Rights, or the United Nations. Certifications are offered exclusively during Columbia Summer Session. While most students complete the four required courses in one summer, it is possible to complete the coursework over two summers.
Critical Issues in International Relations
This program, offered by the School of Professional Studies and Columbia’s School of International and Public Affairs, provides an understanding of the basic analytical issues, theoretical approaches, history, and contemporary policy debates in international relations.
This program, offered by the Institute for the Study of Human Rights at Columbia University through the School of Professional Studies, emphasizes the interaction between human rights theory and practice, and requires you to approach the issues from multiple angles.
United Nations Studies
This program, offered by the School of Professional Studies and Columbia’s School of International and Public Affairs, allows students to explore the role of the United Nations Security Council in international security, international peacekeeping, human rights, and global development activities.
