Advising

The Office of Advising at the Columbia University School of Professional Studies strives to collaborate with students, academic programs, and the SPS community as a whole to enhance the student experience. Acknowledging the unique needs of our population, we mentor and support students as they navigate a rigorous curriculum and their career aspirations. Our program-specific advisors connect with students in an individualized and flexible manner, providing them with guidance on course planning, University resources, policies, and procedures to help them succeed academically, professionally, and personally. The Office of Advising is here to give you guidance, support, and encouragement. We will:

  • Guide you through your transition to SPS and Columbia

  • Help you clarify your goals (and achieve them!)

  • Help you get the most out of your education

  • Connect you with relevant faculty

  • Discuss and clarify the curriculum

  • Connect you with the resources that can enhance your experience: Career Design Lab, events, tutoring, student groups, and beyond

The Office of Advising is located in 203 Lewisohn Hall and can be contacted at spsadvising [[at]] columbia [[dot]] edu.
