Certifications of Professional Achievement

Certifications of Professional Achievement are the ideal entry point to pursuing a subject of interest for career development or advancement. Certifications are offered exclusively during the Columbia Summer Session.

While most students complete the four required courses in one summer (two courses in Session A and two courses in Session B), it is possible to complete the coursework over two summers (divided between two terms: summer 2026 and summer 2027).

The Certification of Professional Achievement programs are offered at the graduate level. Undergraduate students are eligible to apply if they are rising juniors or seniors and have strong academic records and a foundation in political science and/or international studies.

Along with the online application, applicants are required to submit academic transcripts, a CV/resume, and additional information about their goals. For complete details, visit the application materials page.
